Chicago – June 22, 2025

The Los Angeles Dodgers have pledged to donate $1 million to help immigrant families affected by recent events. The team made the announcement on Friday, though they did not specify what “recent events” referred to. The donation comes amid ongoing federal immigration raids in the area and pressure from Dodgers fans for the team to speak out against these actions.

The Dodgers will collaborate with the City of Los Angeles and plan to make more announcements in the coming days about working with local community and labor groups. These groups will provide support such as food and mental health services for families.

The federal immigration raids have caused protests and legal challenges in Los Angeles, especially after President Trump’s decision to send National Guard troops to the city. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who has strongly criticized the Trump administration’s actions, was also mentioned in the Dodgers’ statement.

This financial commitment came just a day after the Dodgers were involved in a public disagreement with immigration authorities.
