Nightline:  President Trump Declares Historic “Complete and Total” Ceasefire Between Israel and Iran, Ending 12-Day War

Chicago – June 23, 2025

On Monday evening, President Donald Trump announced a “Complete and Total” ceasefire between Israel and Iran. He shared this news on social media and said the ceasefire would start in about six hours.

The president explained that Israel and Iran have agreed to stop fighting for 12 hours. After this time, the war will be considered over. The ceasefire will begin in stages over the next 24 hours.

According to President Trump, Iran will start the ceasefire first. After 12 hours, Israel will also stop fighting. Then, after 24 hours, the world will celebrate the official end of the 12-day war. During the ceasefire, both sides are expected to act peacefully and respectfully.

Vice President JD Vance spoke on Fox News shortly after the announcement. He praised President Trump for successfully making the ceasefire happen.
