Chicago- July 18, 2025

Ajit Anjum, a veteran Indian journalist and independent YouTuber from Begusarai, Bihar, has become the center of a major electoral controversy in July 2025.

Ajit Anjum released a detailed video from the Balia block in Begusarai, reporting procedural irregularities during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He alleged that many enumeration forms were accepted without required documentation such as photographs or signatures — potentially disenfranchising marginalized voters  .

Legal Action (FIR filed July 13, 2025): Based on a complaint by Booth-Level Officer (BLO) Mohammed Ansarul Haque, an FIR was lodged under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and the Representation of the People Act, 1951, accusing Anjum of:

• Trespassing and obstructing government work

• Provoking communal discord

• Spreading misinformation

• Filming sensitive government documents without authorization

Official Reactions:

The Begusarai administration issued a scathing statement claiming Anjum targeted a specific community (notably Muslims) and threatened that any resulting unrest would be his responsibility  .

Anjum responded via social media, calling the charges retaliatory, protesting that his reporting exposed flaws and not misinformation.
