Chicago – October 23, 2025

The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Deccan Chapter held its much-anticipated alumni reunion this week, bringing together distinguished graduates, educators, and community leaders for an evening of reflection, dialogue, and shared purpose. The elegant event, set against the backdrop of a three-course dinner, served not only as a nostalgic gathering of former students but also as a forum for serious discussion on the state of education among Indian Muslims.

Over dinner, participants engaged in thought-provoking conversations about the legacy of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and his vision for modern education. Speakers highlighted ongoing challenges—such as inadequate access to quality schools, underrepresentation in higher education, and socio-economic barriers that continue to hinder progress. Discussions also touched on the role of digital learning, mentorship, and scholarships in empowering youth to pursue careers in science, technology, and the arts.

Approximately 75 guests attended the reunion and enjoyed a three course dinner among old friends.

The reunion concluded with a renewed pledge to strengthen AMU’s outreach initiatives across southern India. Members of the Deccan Chapter emphasized unity, collaboration, and continued advocacy for inclusive educational reforms—ensuring that Sir Syed’s dream of enlightenment through knowledge continues to thrive in modern India.
