Bangladesh’s election carries significant regional implications for Pakistan, India, and China, as the outcome could reshape South Asian geopolitics. For India, the stakes are high because Dhaka has traditionally been a close strategic partner, especially on trade, security cooperation, and regional connectivity. A government less aligned with New Delhi could weaken India’s influence in the Bay of Bengal and limit its regional leadership.
For China, the election presents an opportunity to expand its economic and strategic footprint. Beijing has invested heavily in infrastructure, defense cooperation, and Belt and Road projects in Bangladesh, and a favorable government could strengthen China’s position as India’s main regional competitor.
