U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that talks between the United States and Iran could resume within the next two days, raising hopes of a renewed diplomatic push after recent negotiations stalled. Trump suggested the next round could again be held in Pakistan, where officials have been involved in mediation efforts.
His remarks came after weekend discussions in Islamabad that lasted about 21 hours and ended without a breakthrough, according to reports. A Pakistani official said the talks might restart soon, though the timing could slip by a day or two.
Trump praised Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling him a strong mediator in the process. Meanwhile, U.S. officials have said the key issue remains whether Iran is willing to provide enough flexibility on its nuclear program.
The reported talks come amid heightened regional tensions and follow a fragile ceasefire arrangement tied to broader efforts to reduce confrontation.
