Chicago – June 05, 2026

Skywatchers will have a chance to see two of the brightest planets, Venus and Jupiter, appear close together in the sky this month. The event, known as a conjunction, occurs when planets seem to pass near each other from Earth’s perspective.

Although the planets will appear close, they remain millions of kilometers apart in space. The pairing will be visible shortly before sunrise, offering a striking sight for early-morning observers.

Super New Moon to Occur on June 15
Skywatchers will experience a Super New Moon on June 15, 2026, as the Moon aligns between Earth and the Sun while near its closest point to Earth. Though invisible in the night sky, the event will create ideal dark-sky conditions for observing stars, planets, and deep-sky objects. The new moon reaches its peak at 02:54 UTC.
