Chicago – June 17, 2026

U.S. President Donald Trump asserted his dominance at the G7 summit after arriving nearly an hour late to the first meeting of the final day, declaring to fellow world leaders, “I’m the boss.” The statement was not a joke but a deliberate claim of superiority as he entered the room where other heads of state were already seated.

The remark was made in Évian-les-Bains, France, where global leaders gathered for high-stakes discussions on trade, security, and the Iran-Israel conflict. Reuters reported that Trump’s declaration was a bold assertion of authority, with the president bypassing formal protocol to personally greet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi before taking his seat next to Macron.

While other leaders reacted with some laughter, the moment underscored Trump’s(showman style) and assertive approach to leadership at the summit. The exchange added a tense note to proceedings otherwise focused on serious diplomatic issues including Ukraine, Russia sanctions, and Middle East tensions.
