Actor and environmental advocate Leonardo DiCaprio has joined Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in supporting a new $200 million global conservation initiative aimed at protecting 100 of the world’s most threatened species. The project seeks to prevent extinctions by funding habitat restoration, anti-poaching efforts, scientific research, and community-led conservation programs.

The initiative will focus on endangered animals and plants facing increasing threats from climate change, habitat destruction, illegal wildlife trade, and human activity. Conservation organizations and researchers from around the world are expected to collaborate on identifying priority species and implementing long-term recovery plans.

DiCaprio said protecting biodiversity is essential to maintaining healthy ecosystems and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. Bezos also emphasized the importance of investing in conservation efforts that combine science, innovation, and local partnerships to address the global biodiversity crisis.

Environmental groups have welcomed the funding, calling it one of the largest private commitments to species conservation in recent years. The initiative is expected to support projects across multiple continents over the coming decade.
