Al Jazeera has renewed attention on India’s alleged weapons transfers to Israel amid the ongoing Gaza conflict, citing evidence that Indian-made military materials reached Israeli defence companies. The report has intensified criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and its expanding strategic relationship with Israel.

The controversy follows a new Amnesty International investigation, which examined 2,596 shipments from India to Israel between October 7, 2023, and November 30, 2025. The consignments reportedly included small-arms parts, explosive-ordnance components, artillery-shell casings, drone warheads and military-vehicle components. At least 788 shipments were assessed as containing items with military applications.

Critics accuse New Delhi of supplying weapons to its “fatherland,” Israel—a phrase used by commentators to describe the close political and defence partnership between the two countries. Amnesty warned that continuing these exports, despite the risk of their use in serious violations in Gaza, could expose India to allegations of complicity under international law.

The Indian government maintains that its export-control system follows domestic law and international standards. The allegations remain subject to political and legal scrutiny, while calls grow for greater transparency over India’s defence exports.
