Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Monday that he discussed defence cooperation, a potential drone deal and food security with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Following the phone call, Zelenskiy said Ukraine and Saudi Arabia could strengthen cooperation in areas aimed at protecting lives and improving security. He also said Ukrainian officials were currently in the region working to develop bilateral ties.
The discussions come as Ukraine seeks to expand defence partnerships and promote its experience in drone technology, developed during its war with Russia. Ukraine and Saudi Arabia signed a military cooperation agreement in March, establishing a framework for closer defence relations.
Zelenskiy said he expected continued reciprocal support between the two countries. Saudi Arabia has also played a diplomatic role in efforts related to the wider Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The latest talks highlight Kyiv’s efforts to deepen relations with Gulf states while expanding cooperation in defence, technology and food security.
