Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States today, marking the beginning of his second term in office. Despite facing numerous challenges, including impeachments, criminal indictments, and assassination attempts, Trump emerged victorious in the election.

Following the inauguration ceremony, Trump is expected to sign executive orders aimed at jumpstarting deportations, increasing fossil fuel development, and reducing civil service protections for government workers. He has promised that his term will bring about “a brand new day of American strength and prosperity, dignity and pride.”

Due to frigid weather, the swearing-in ceremony has been moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda, and the inaugural parade has been replaced with an event at a downtown arena. Trump’s supporters, who gathered in the city to witness the ceremony, will have to find alternative viewing locations.

The inauguration marks a significant shift in power, with Republicans assuming unified control of Washington.
