Telangana Minister for Minority Welfare, Mr. Mohammed Azharuddin, attended 10th Annual Award Function of the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists Federation (TWJF) held at the Media Academy Auditorium in Nampally, Hyderabad on August 01, 2026. He stated that the profession of journalism is sacred, and the journalists associated with it are respected and honorable personalities in society. He expressed that he has always respected journalists and will continue to do so.

Speeches and Dignitaries’ Remarks

Speaking at the event, Mr. Mohammed Azharuddin further stated that without constructive criticism, services cannot be performed effectively. He mentioned that official shortcomings related to the Urdu language will be fully represented and addressed. He also assured that wherever government offices are located, signboards in Urdu will be ensured.

Advisor to the Government, Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir, stated that Urdu should get its rightful place in government offices, collectorates, RTC depots, and other institutions. He stated that the government is not solely responsible for the decline of Urdu, but parents are as well, because they are preferring English medium or other subjects for their children instead of teaching them Urdu.

The event was attended by Mr. Faheem Qureshi (Vice President of Tamreen), Federation President Dr. Fazil Hussain Pervez (Chief Editor of weekly Guha), D. Amer and Miskeen, M.A. Majid (General Secretary), along with other federation officials, prominent journalists, and dignitaries including Mohammed Mazharuddin, Asad Ali, and Syed Journalist Usman Rasheed, who garlanded Mr. Mohammed Azharuddin and Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir.

Award Distribution and Honors

On this occasion, appreciation letters, momentos, shawls, and checks worth 10,000 rupees were presented by Mr. Mohammed Azharuddin and Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir to Mr. Syed Bilal Ahmed Naveed (Senior Sub-Editor, Daily Etemaad), along with Hafeez M.A. Qayyum (Mehdiq Etemaad), Imtiaz Khan (Sangareddy), Afzal Khan (Nizamabad), Aijaz Ahmed Khan (Nuzvid), Abdul Ahad Siddiqui (Mahabubnagar), and Ms. Ayesha Batool (Hyderabad).

These awards were given in the names of the late Faiz Mohammed Asghar, the late Tabassum Fareedi, the late Habib Ali Jilani, and the late Professor Abdul Rahim.
