At a recent Congress Working Committee meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge addressed the recent electoral losses in Haryana and Maharashtra. He emphasized the need for unity and discipline within the party, criticizing leaders for public disagreements that could weaken their electoral chances. Kharge highlighted that internal conflicts and off-message statements were damaging the party’s image and effectiveness.
During the meeting, he also expressed concerns about the reliability of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), suggesting that they could compromise the electoral process. He stressed that it is crucial for the Election Commission to ensure that elections are conducted fairly and transparently.
Kharge called for significant changes within the party to address these issues and better counter the opposing parties’ tactics. He mentioned that the Congress needs to revamp its strategy to tackle propaganda and misinformation effectively. Some party leaders also pointed out weaknesses in the organization’s structure across various states.
Despite recent setbacks, Kharge remained optimistic about addressing key national issues such as unemployment, inflation, and economic inequality. He also highlighted the importance of conducting a caste census to better understand and address social inequalities. Kharge’s statements underscored a commitment to reinvigorating the party and focusing on critical issues affecting the country.
