Governors from across the United States are gathering in Washington, D.C. this week for the National Governors Association’s winter meeting. Among them is Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, who expressed renewed optimism in the federal government thanks to the Department of Government Efficiency.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Reeves stated that the Department of Government Efficiency aligns with Republican governors’ values of “fiscal sanity.” He emphasized that Republican governors are leaders in fiscal responsibility, citing their experience balancing state budgets.

Reeves praised the efforts of the Department of Government Efficiency, backed by Elon Musk and President Trump, saying it gives him hope for the future. He believes there are billions of dollars in federal spending that could be cut, citing waste, fraud, and abuse.

“We should treat taxpayers’ money like our own,” Reeves said. “We wouldn’t waste our own money, so why should we waste theirs?” He urged the federal government to be more responsible with its spending.
