Chicago – February 21, 2025

Seven Arab leaders gathered in Saudi Arabia on Friday to discuss a plan for the future of Gaza. The meeting in Riyadh was called by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and included leaders from Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

The leaders met in response to a proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump, who suggested that the U.S. take control of Gaza, remove its residents, and turn it into a tourist destination. Arab leaders strongly opposed this idea, saying it ignores the rights of the Palestinian people and could lead to more conflict in the region.

Instead, they are working on their own plan and hope to present it with full support at an Arab League meeting in Cairo, Egypt, on March 4.

So far, no official statement has been released about the details of their discussions, and it is unclear if any agreements were made during the meeting.
