Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91, the Armani Group announced on Thursday. The iconic designer, founder of the eponymous luxury brand in 1975, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, according to an official statement by the company. Armani, known affectionately as “Il Signor Armani” by colleagues and collaborators, was dedicated to his craft and worked tirelessly until his final days.

Born in 1934 in Piacenza, Italy, Armani revolutionized fashion by introducing softer, unstructured menswear in the 1970s and redefining power dressing for both men and women. His signature style blended Italian elegance with relaxed luxury and became synonymous with Hollywood glamour and corporate power. Over decades, Armani built a global empire spanning clothing, accessories, hotels, and home furnishings, valued at billions of euros.

In recent months, Armani had been absent from Milan Fashion Week for health reasons, marking the first time he missed his own show. The fashion house expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their visionary founder and pledged to continue his legacy with respect and responsibility.
