Chicago – June 29, 2026
Jamia Masjid Greater Chicago celebrated a major milestone in the construction of its new mosque, inviting the community to a 6-month construction update on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
A total of 250 attendees including adults or children attended the fundraising event. A buffet dinner with dessert and soft drinks were also served at the event.

At the gathering, a complete update on the progress of the project was given. The representative explained that 74 caissons have been completed, while earth retention and excavation work is currently underway. The organization says the next major phase will require funding for concrete work, encouraging community members to contribute toward the project.

The fundraiser happened after Asr prayer at 6:45 p.m. and took place at B.B.Q. Tonight Restaurant, 2532 W. Devon Avenue, Chicago, with separate seating arrangements for women and men. The campaign carried the message, “One Day, We Will Pray Here,” reflecting the vision for the future mosque.
