Chicago – July 15, 2026

Spain produced a disciplined and clinical performance to defeat France 2-0 in the FIFA World Cup semifinal, booking its place in the tournament final while keeping French captain Kylian Mbappé off the scoresheet. Spain controlled the tempo for long stretches, defended compactly and capitalized on its scoring chances to secure a deserved victory. France struggled to create clear opportunities as Spain’s organized back line limited Mbappé’s impact throughout the match.

The win sends Spain into the World Cup final, where it will face the winner of the other semifinal between England and Argentina. France will now compete in the third-place playoff. Spain’s balanced display on both ends of the pitch reinforced its status as one of the tournament’s strongest teams and moved it within one victory of lifting the World Cup trophy.
