Yogi Adityanath has directed officials in Uttar Pradesh to ensure that Bakrid prayers are held only at designated religious places and not on public roads. He also said animal sacrifice (qurbani) should take place only at authorized locations, with strict rules for cleanliness and waste disposal.

Speaking ahead of Eid al-Adha celebrations, Adityanath stated that roads are meant for public movement and should not be blocked for religious gatherings. He suggested that if there is a space shortage, prayers could be organized in shifts at mosques or designated venues.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also instructed local administrations to maintain law and order, monitor sensitive areas, and ensure sacrifices are not carried out in public spaces or near roadsides.

The remarks have sparked political debate, with some opposition leaders arguing that similar restrictions should apply equally to all religious gatherings and processions using public roads.
