Chicago – February 03, 2026

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee in its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, averting an imminent contempt of Congress vote.

The announcement came on February 2, 2026, via a statement from Clinton’s deputy chief of staff Angel Ureña on X, following months of resistance to subpoenas issued in August 2025. Hillary Clinton is scheduled to appear on February 26, with Bill Clinton testifying the next day on February 27, marking the first time a former president has been compelled to give congressional testimony.

House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) had advanced contempt resolutions last month, backed by some Democrats, after the Clintons offered sworn statements instead of depositions. The couple accused the probe of partisan motives, arguing their prior disclosures sufficed, but relented amid threats of fines or imprisonment.

Comer hailed the development for providing “transparency and accountability” on Epstein’s crimes and associates like Ghislaine Maxwell. Both Clintons maintain they were unaware of Epstein’s exploitation of minors and ended ties years ago.
