Chicago – May 23, 2026

BJP government has blocked the website of the satirical “Cockroach Janta Party” (CJP) after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s courtroom remark likening unemployed youth to “cockroaches” ignited a nationwide protest movement. During a May 15 Supreme Court hearing, CJI Kant observed: “There are youngsters like cockroaches, who don’t get any employment or have any place in profession. Some of them become media, some social media, RTI activists and other activists, and they start attacking everyone.” He also called them “parasites of society.”

The CJP, founded by Abhijeet Dipke, was created as a direct reaction to the remarks, which deeply hurt Indian youth’s self-respect. Within days, the movement gained millions of followers on X, Instagram, and other platforms, symbolizing youth defiance against perceived disrespect and the Modi government.

Dipke said the government blocked cockroachjantaparty.org and the group’s social media accounts, citing fake allegation of national security under Section 69A of the IT Act. Critics accuse the BJP government of silencing dissent. Dipke called it “dictatorial behaviour” and said “Modi Raaj is afraid of youth standing against him.”
