Jamia Islamia Ishaat-ul-Uloom, one of the largest Islamic seminaries in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district, is facing a severe financial crisis after all its bank accounts were sealed by investigative agencies.

According to Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, the freeze has left the century-old institution struggling to arrange basic meals for its students. With no access to operational funds, the management has appealed for nationwide donations to keep essential services running. A special fundraising drive has also been launched in mosques across Dhule city to aid the madrasa.

Reports indicate that the situation has become so critical that students were recently forced to collect food supplies such as rice, pulses, and cooking oil from nearby villages after the institution failed to make regular purchases.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) recently conducted raids at several locations associated with the Jamia, alleging violations related to foreign contributions under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). While the madrasa continues its academic activities, administrators say the financial disruption has severely affected daily operations.

Leaders from Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind have urged government authorities to reconsider the account freeze, citing its impact on thousands of students who rely on the institution for both education and sustenance.
