Chicago – June 16, 2026

Vice President JD Vance acknowledged during a Tuesday appearance on ABC’s “The View” that he is “frankly kind of a conspiracy theorist” regarding the Jeffrey Epstein case, confirming reports from an upcoming book by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan.

Vance said he was troubled by Epstein’s connections to wealthy and powerful individuals, though he cannot confirm what exactly transpired. “That genuinely troubled me,” he stated, emphasizing his desire for transparency about the sex trafficker’s network.

The interview centered on the Trump administration’s handling of Epstein files, with Vance defending that the White House is “not holding anything back”. He incorrectly claimed Trump’s friendship with Epstein dated to the 1980s and framed a Trump phone call as alerting police that “ultimately led to Jeffrey Epstein’s downfall,” despite an investigation already being underway.

Vance promoted his new faith memoir during the rare appearance in hostile media territory.
