NASA said it is coordinating with relevant federal agencies as the United States reviews a series of deaths and disappearances involving scientists linked to nuclear and space research. The move comes amid growing questions over whether the cases, which date back to 2023, share any common pattern.
The agency said there is, at present, no indication of a national security threat tied to NASA itself. A NASA spokesperson, Bethany Stephens, said the agency is cooperating with investigators and will share more information as it becomes available.
The White House has also stepped in, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt saying the administration is working with the FBI and other agencies to review the cases holistically. The House Oversight Committee has requested briefings from NASA, the FBI, and other departments as lawmakers seek answers.
The unusual cluster has fueled speculation in Washington, but officials have not publicly linked the cases. Investigators are now focusing on whether the deaths and disappearances are connected or simply coincidental.
