The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected Donald Trump’s final appeal in the E. Jean Carroll sexual abuse and defamation case, leaving intact a $5 million civil judgment against the president. In a brief order on Monday, the justices declined to hear Trump’s challenge to a 2023 jury verdict that found he sexually abused and defamed the former magazine columnist.
The court provided no explanation for its decision and recorded no dissents. Carroll’s attorney said the ruling ends Trump’s efforts to avoid accountability, while Trump continues to face a separate $83.3 million defamation judgment that he is also appealing
