Chicago – June 07, 2026

President Donald Trump has dismissed allegations that launching military action against Iran contradicts his 2024 campaign pledge of “no new wars.” In an interview aired Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump stated he “didn’t guarantee” there would be no conflicts if re-elected. “First of all, I didn’t promise no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world?” he remarked.

Throughout his campaign, Trump portrayed Democrats as war proponents while positioning himself as a leader who initiated “no new wars.” However, the U.S. conflict with Iran began February 28 and has now lasted three months. Trump distinguished this from “endless wars,” calling it a necessary service to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The president acknowledged contradicting statements, previously claiming U.S. strikes “obliterated” Iranian nuclear facilities last year while now saying preventing nuclear armament “takes years”. He justified withdrawing from Obama’s nuclear deal without securing the “better deal” he promised.
