Chicago – May 01, 2026

The Trump administration is expected to shut down its flagship Civil-Military Coordination Center near Gaza, a U.S. military-run facility created to help monitor the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and improve aid delivery.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the closure would mark another setback for President Donald Trump’s Gaza strategy, which has already been weakened by renewed Israeli strikes, Hamas’s refusal to disarm, and stalled reconstruction efforts.

Diplomats and officials said the move highlights the difficulty of managing the fragile truce and coordinating humanitarian assistance as Israel expands its control in Gaza and Hamas tightens its grip in areas it governs.

The decision could also unsettle Washington’s allies, some of whom had been encouraged to send personnel and funding to support Trump’s broader Gaza rebuilding plan. Reuters said the center’s aid and monitoring responsibilities would likely be transferred to a planned international security mission led by the United States, though the timing remains unclear.
