Yemen’s Houthis have entered the widening Middle East war by launching ballistic missiles toward southern Israel, marking their first direct strike since the conflict with Iran escalated. Israeli officials said air defenses intercepted at least one missile, and no casualties were reported.
The Houthis said the attack targeted “sensitive” Israeli military sites and vowed to continue operations in support of Iran and other allied groups. Their move raises fears that the conflict could spread further, especially given previous Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping.
Analysts say the strike is a major escalation because it brings another Iran-aligned group into the confrontation. It also heightens concerns about regional instability and the safety of maritime trade routes through the Red Sea.
