Bank of America has agreed to pay $72.5 million to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by women who said the bank helped enable Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse by ignoring suspicious transactions and providing financial services to him and his associates. The agreement, disclosed in court records, still needs approval from U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff in Manhattan.
The bank has denied wrongdoing, saying the deal lets it move past the case and gives plaintiffs further closure. Lawyers for the accusers said the settlement was the best option for victims who need financial relief now, and court filings indicate they may seek legal fees of up to 30% of the fund.
The settlement adds Bank of America to a growing list of major financial institutions that have faced Epstein-related claims. JPMorgan Chase previously paid $290 million and Deutsche Bank agreed to a $75 million settlement in 2023.
