Chicago – June 27, 2025

In a powerful and impassioned statement, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib boldly condemned President Donald Trump’s actions in sending U.S. troops to bomb Iran without Congressional authorization. Tlaib emphasized that such a critical decision, one that could lead the nation into war, should require a vote from Congress. She pointed out that every member of Congress represents close to 800,000 people, all of whom deserve a say in matters of war and peace.

Tlaib reminded the American people that they do not want to be dragged into another endless conflict. Instead, she urged the government to focus on funding vital programs such as Medicaid, housing, clean water, and early childhood education – areas where communities are in desperate need of support. She reflected on the devastation caused by the Iraq War, where millions of lives were lost or displaced due to lies about weapons of mass destruction.

The Congresswoman also criticized President Trump for ignoring the will of the American people, accusing him of aligning with foreign leaders like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom she described as a “genocidal maniac war criminal.” She made it clear that the American public will not be deceived again.

Tlaib’s message was one of courage and clarity, holding both Trump and Netanyahu accountable for their reckless actions. Her bold stance serves as a stark reminder of the importance of Congress’s role in matters of war and peace and reflects the sentiments of millions of Americans who seek a government focused on peace and prosperity, not endless conflict.
