Chicago – April 16, 2026

With deep sorrow, we announce that Dr. Shahid Ekbal, MD, a respected urologist and beloved member of the Lincolnwood community, has passed away.

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

For more than two decades, Dr. Ekbal dedicated his career to improving patients’ health and quality of life throughout the Chicago area. He was affiliated with Rush University Medical Center and Rush Oak Park Hospital, where he was admired for his compassion, skill, and professionalism.

A graduate of Dow University of Health Sciences, Dr. Ekbal also served as an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at Rush Medical College and as medical director of the urology practice. His devotion to medicine, teaching, and patient care left a lasting mark on the field and on those he mentored.

He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, humility, and service.
