Chicago – March 26, 2026

President Donald Trump said the United States will pause strikes on Iranian energy facilities for another 10 days, extending a deadline to April 6, while insisting that talks with Tehran are “ongoing” and “going very well.” He said the delay followed a request from Iran and repeated his claim that the media was misrepresenting the state of negotiations.

Trump’s comments came after days of mounting pressure over Iran’s oil and energy infrastructure, including warnings that Washington could target energy sites if Tehran did not meet U.S. demands. Reuters reported that Trump later told Fox News the talks were progressing well, even as Iranian officials publicly rejected the idea that meaningful negotiations were underway.

The latest pause adds another layer of uncertainty to the conflict, which has already rattled regional security and global energy markets.
