Iran has sent its response to a U.S. proposal aimed at ending the war, according to Iranian state media, with Pakistan serving as the intermediary. The reply reportedly focuses on halting the fighting, including concern over maritime security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, though no full details were released.
DUBAI/ISLAMABAD, May 11 — Iran said it has delivered its response to a U.S. peace proposal through Pakistan, as diplomatic efforts continue to seek an end to the more than two-month conflict, Iranian state media reported Sunday. The IRNA news agency said the message centers on stopping the war on all fronts, with particular attention to Lebanon and the safety of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Pakistani officials have confirmed receiving the Iranian reply, according to Al Jazeera’s reporting, but neither side has publicly disclosed the terms. The development comes after earlier reports that Washington and Tehran had exchanged proposals through Pakistani mediators amid fragile ceasefire efforts.
Analysts say the latest exchange suggests both sides are still testing the possibility of a limited agreement, even as major gaps remain over sanctions, regional security and military withdrawals.
