Chicago – May 27, 2026

Former First Lady Jill Biden has disclosed that she feared her husband, former President Joe Biden, was suffering a stroke during his disastrous June 2024 presidential debate against Donald Trump. In an interview with CBS News’ “Sunday Morning” airing this weekend, Jill Biden described watching the performance in horror.

“I was frightened because I had never ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never,” she said. “As I watched it, I thought, ‘Oh, my God, he’s having a stroke.’ And it scared me to death”.

During the CNN debate, 81-year-old Biden stumbled over words, stared open-mouthed, lost his train of thought, and at one point incorrectly declared, “We finally beat Medicare”. The alarming performance triggered intense pressure from Democrats and ultimately led to Biden withdrawing from the race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris.

Neither Biden nor Trump has ever been medically confirmed to have had a stroke. Jill Biden’s candid remarks offer a rare glimpse into the private terror she experienced watching her husband’s public struggle on that pivotal night.
