Chicago – March 22, 2025

The Trump administration is using Elon Musk’s support to reduce funding for USAID, which is causing big problems for the United Nations’ safety department, as internal emails revealed to Fox News Digital show.

Milan Victor Dawoh, who leads the U.N. Field Staff Union, shared in an email that a huge $30 million has been cut from their budget. This means they have to significantly cut down on staff.

Dawoh explained that the U.N. is facing its biggest money problems ever and that things might get even worse before they start to get better. He mentioned that the U.N.’s safety department will have to let go of 100 workers and will stop operating in 35 to 45 countries. However, they will still have smaller offices in 120 other countries.

The U.N.’s safety department is known for helping U.N. programs work safely and effectively, especially in dangerous places.

António Guterres, the head of the U.N., also said earlier this month that the U.S. cutting funds to the U.N. will make the world a less healthy, less safe, and less prosperous place.
