Singer and actor Selena Gomez has been sued by investors who accuse her and fellow Wondermind founders of misleading them about the mental health company’s operations and prospects.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Delaware, claims five investors put nearly $1.2 million into Wondermind Global after being told Gomez would actively help build and promote the business as its head of marketing. Plaintiffs allege the company was presented as having major advertising partnerships, celebrity features and plans for a mobile application.

According to the complaint, those initiatives failed to materialize, while Wondermind allegedly struggled to pay employees and vendors. Investors further claim that the founders concealed the company’s financial and operational difficulties for more than three years.

The suit names Gomez, her mother and co-founder Mandy Teefey, and businesswoman Daniella Pierson. It alleges securities fraud, common-law fraud and breach of contract. The plaintiffs are seeking to recover their investment, damages and legal fees.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and no ruling has been issued. Reuters and BBC News reported the claims.
