Haji Salim Qureshi, a Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) candidate contesting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections from Ward 92 in Bandra, Mumbai, was stabbed while campaigning.

The stabbing occurred in the Sant Dnyaneshwar Nagar area of Bandra East while Qureshi was going door-to-door as part of his campaign.

Reports say a person approached and stabbed him in the stomach, then fled the scene. Qureshi was immediately taken to hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed he suffered multiple stab wounds and underwent treatment, but was out of danger and in stable condition after receiving medical care.
