The exit polls results for all the five states i.e. Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram are out. Several media outlets have declared the exit poll results. The India Today-Axis My India exit poll and Jan Ki Baat exit poll has predicted a neck-and-neck fight between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
What is assembly election exit poll?
A survey agency tries to gauge the likely result of an election through an exit poll. Voters are asked, after they exit the polling station who they voted for, hence this is called an ‘exit poll’. Exit poll is a survey that is conducted immediately after people have voted their respective candidates.
The exit polls might have declared the BJP winner in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election but the Congress is confident that it will secure a majority in the state. In a video, Congress candidate Sanjay Shukla said, “Congress is coming to power. We won’t get less than 140 seats…”.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath claimed that some exit polls were deliberately created to disappoint Congress workers and put pressure on officers by creating a false atmosphere.
All Congress workers should get into the field with full force. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lost the elections. Some exit polls have been deliberately created so that Congress workers get disappointed and put pressure on the officers by creating a false atmosphere. This conspiracy is not going to succeed,” the veteran Congress leader said.
