The City of Madinah radiates peace and calmness. Visitors often testify that as soon as you enter the city you experience a peaceful feeling that is hard to put into words. The name of the city is also written as Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, which means ‘The Enlightened City.’ It is the capital of the Madinah Province and the fourth most populated city of Saudi Arabia. Being one of the two Holiest cities for Muslims, there are no shortage of holy sites and other places to visit in Madinah.
Madinah/Medina, the second most holy place in Islam is an incredibly peaceful city and worth spending a few days in, whether you are Muslim or Non-Muslim. Aside from the most famous Medina attraction– the Prophets Mosque- Al-Masjid An Nabawi.
Just next to the Masjid An Nabawi (SAWS), the Jannatul Baqi graveyard can be found. Many of the Companions and relatives of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are buried here (May God be Pleased with Them All). It is mostly opened after Fajr and Asar prayers.
Masjid Al Qiblatayn was one of the earliest mosques in Madina and was named after the historic event of 15th of Shaban, 2 AH, when the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) turned towards the Kaaba while leading the Dhuhr prayer and the companions followed suit out of obedience and respect. The Prophet (PBUH) later explained that he had received revelation from Allah to change the Qibla from Temple Mount in Jerusalem to Kaaba in Makkah.
The Ghars Well (also known as Bir Ghars) is a very important well in Islamic history which is connected to the Seerah, The Life of The Prophet Muhammed, Peace and Blessings of God Be Upon Him (PBUH). It is located in the Blessed City of Madinah, close to Masjid Quba and The Garden of Salman Al Farsi (RA). The Ghars Well was one of the well perferred by The Prophet (PBUH) due to its freshness and was said to have drank water and performed ablution from the well.
Also the Ohud Battlefield, this is one of the extremely historical places in Madina.
Masjid e Bilal (RA) (Mosque of Bilal) is a mosque located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, across the ring road, towards the south of and in close vicinity of Masjid e Nabwi (The Prophet (PBUH)’s Mosque).
