At the time of Namaz-e-Zuhr, a young man started calling Azaan and was shot dead by the Dogra soldiers. Another youth took his place to complete Azaan and he too was martyred by the troops. Similarly, 22 youth sacrificed their lives till the completion of Azaan. Since then, the Kashmiris are observing July 13 as Kashmir Martyrs’ Day every year.
Kashmiris describe the 13 July 1931 incident as an important event in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. Since then and even before, Kashmiri people have been rendering sacrifices to get rid of oppression for the past 92 years.
History stands witness to the reality that the Kashmiris have always resisted the oppression. Hundreds of young Kashmiris are following in the footsteps of the martyrs of July 13 in laying down their lives and keeping the candle of freedom burning.
The candle of freedom is now burning in Palestine as well where more than 32,000 men, women and children have sacrificed their lives. Like Kashmiri brothers and sisters, the Palestinians are still standing their ground after massive bombing and land raids by the apartheid Israeli army.
May Allah accept the martyrdom of countless Muslims who stood for their religion and laid down their lives for Allah.
As Allah says in the Holy Quran – Ayah al-Baqarah 2:154. Never say that those martyred in the cause of Allah are dead—in fact, they are alive! But you do not perceive it. Do not say that those killed in God’s path are dead; they are alive, though you do not realize it.
