On Thursday, prominent members of the Kennedy political dynasty issued a powerful endorsement of Joe Biden’s re-election campaign. This clear message was also a stinging rebuke to their relative Robert F Kennedy Jr, who was running for president alone.
Kerry Kennedy, one of the controversial candidate’s six siblings on stage at a Biden campaign event in Philadelphia, referred to the US president as “my hero” as she celebrated a litany of his accomplishments that she said would have pleased her father, the late former US attorney general Robert F Kennedy, and her uncle, the late president John F Kennedy.
Biden said having their support was “an incredible honor.”
Neither directly referenced RFK Jr’s campaign, which Biden allies think may deprive the president of crucial votes in November. However, Kerry Kennedy stated, “In 2024, there are only two candidates with any chance of winning.”
She attacked Donald Trump, the expected Republican nominee, saying he was “the most anti-democratic president” in history and that his “outrageous lies and behavior would have horrified my father.”
