Nikki Haley ended her lost presidential bid like she had spent the last weeks of the campaign.
Ms Haley’s departure kicks off the 2024 general election, which will almost definitely be a replay of four years ago between Mr Trump and Democrat Joe Biden.
The new question that has emerged, with huge consequences for the presidential election, is where Ms Haley’s supporters will go now.
The former South Carolina governor’s coalition of Trump-skeptical Republicans and independents is a mix of moderate, college-educated, and suburban voters that helped her win two primary elections – now wields significant power. These groups have historically been influential in elections, and experts believe the way to the presidency will once again pass directly through the votes Ms Haley left behind.
According to experts, Ms Haley’s followers are divided into three groups: never-Trump voters, independents, and Republican Party supporters. However, Trump has not yet tried to get the approval of Hailey’s voters; instead, he mocked her ways.
