Chicago – February 28, 2024
On Tuesday, the parties’ primaries in Michigan were won by former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden.
Though the initiative only garnered around 13% of the vote just after midnight, Biden defeated an activist-led drive to cast protest votes against his handling of Israel’s battle with Hamas.
As the former president moves closer to earning the GOP nominee for a third consecutive election, Biden is racing toward the Democratic selection for a second term.
With over one-third of the party’s delegates up for grabs during next week’s Super Tuesday contests, former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley’s prospects of gaining ground are further dashed by Trump’s victory.
Even though Biden won the Democratic primary handily, the outcome gave the president some cause for concern. As resentment over the administration’s handling of Israel’s assault in Gaza spurred a campaign to persuade Democratic voters to vote “uncommitted,” he encountered concerted resistance from Arab and Muslim Americans.
