The Congress reacted on Sunday to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “redistribution of wealth” remarks directed at the party, claiming that after encountering “disappointment” in the first phase of voting for the Lok Sabha polls, the PM has now resorted to “lies” and is diverting people’s attention away from the genuine issues.
The opposition party’s criticism came after Prime Minister Modi claimed that if the Congress won power, it would divide people’s money among Muslims, citing former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remark that the minority population had first claim to the country’s resources.
Gandhi stated in a Hindi-language post on X that massively support for Congress’s “revolutionary manifesto” had begun to emerge.
“The country will now vote on its issues, including work, family, and the future. “India will not be diverted,” the former Congress chief stated.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh also slammed Modi, claiming that instead of answering a single question about youth, women, farmers, Dalits, and backward, the prime minister “shamelessly lied and made insulting statements in his rallies in Rajasthan to divert attention away from the real issues.”
