Prominent United Nations officials have issued dire warnings of an “apocalyptic” situation in Gaza, where the Israeli military is expanding its operations while civilians have nowhere to seek refuge.
As evidenced by satellite imagery, dozens of Israeli armored vehicles are presently engaged in combat in southern Gaza.
The vehicles are visible to the west of Salah El-Din Street, the principal north-south route through Gaza, approximately six kilometers (3.7 miles) north of the center of Khan Younis, according to images obtained by CNN on Tuesday.
Israel has issued digital maps to Palestinians residing in some areas of southern Gaza, urging them to vacate. However, residents of these areas have informed CNN that the maps are either perplexing or unattainable due to power and internet outages.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had earlier in the conflict advised Gazans to seek refuge in the southern portion of the Strip, threatening to launch an offensive against Hamas “wherever it may be.”
