He served as a senior cabinet minister in Uttar Pradesh and was elected to the legislative assembly ten times from the Rampur constituency. From 2017 to 2019, his son Abdullah Azam Khan served as an MLA in the Suar Assembly Constituency.
In 2023, Azam Khan was sentenced to two-year imprisonment by the court for using “criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty” and inciting violence. He was disqualified from his elected seat when he received a two-year prison sentence from the court. However, the whole case was merely based on Muslim hate agendas.
While addressing the Muslim youth of India, Azam Khan stated that now Muslims’ homes are not safe, and our identity is being demolished slowly. He added that anti-Muslim governments want Muslims to be uneducated and backward. It’s time to stand together and emerge as a strong power.
Azam stated that Hindu extremist-backed governments and parties do not want to work with Muslims for the betterment of India. They do not want us to be a part of India’s future. He encouraged the Muslim youth to think about themselves and their future otherwise, o one will come to save them.
