Max Blumenthal is an American writer and blogger. Recently, Blumenthal slammed Israel for initiating the war with Palestinians and occupying their land.
Blumenthal is The Grayzone’s editor, renowned for its sympathetic coverage of authoritarian regimes such as the Chinese, Russian, Syrian, and Venezuelan administrations.
On asking if it was confirmed that Israel had initiated the war, Max said yes, Israel inited the war in 1948 by the ethnic cleansing of 750,000 Palestinians during Nakba. He referred to the statement of Israel’s first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, that we must expel Arabs from Palestine and build Jewish settlements.
80% of the Palestinians in Gaza are refugees who were from the city, which is now Southern Israel. Those people were dragged out of their homes, kept in brutal prison camps, then loaded into trucks and dumped into the Gaza Strip. Afterward, Israel settled Arab and Russian Jews to prevent Palestinians from returning.
For 18 consecutive years, millions of Palestinians were kept under military occupation. Then, in 1967, Israel fully occupied the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and East Jerusalem. Again, in 1982, Israeli forces invaded Gaza, killed thousands, and put them under complete siege in 2005.
All in all, Palestinians’ resistance didn’t come out of a vacuum. It was the result of continuous attacks, arrests, and killings by Israeli Defence Forces. Max mentioned that Gaza has now become a graveyard for children, according to the UN secretary.
